I was initially on the fence about whether or not to have a doula as I planned to have a routine hospital birth and wasn’t sure of the role a doula would have in that setting. However, given the statistics around Black maternal health and being a first time mom, I wanted all the support I could get to be in that space. Kris brings a calm and bright spirit with a wealth of knowledge and support to the pregnancy and postpartum journey. We were so thankful to have her guide us through the third trimester, birth and postpartum period. Despite having complications that changed my birth preferences, Kris was a steady presence that helped navigate and provide comfort throughout.
